Deep Tissue Release

When Surface-Level Relief Is No Longer Enough

Deep Tissue Release. Deep Muscle Recovery.

Some tension doesn’t respond to light touch. It has been there for months, maybe years, quietly accumulating in the deeper layers of muscle and fascia, building into chronic adhesions, stubborn knots, and trigger points that seem to take on a life of their own.

If you have tried remedies that only scratch the surface, this session is for you.

Deep Tissue Release is a firm, focused, and deliberately paced treatment that works below the superficial muscle layer to address tension at its source. It is not about pressure for the sake of pressure. It is about the right pressure, applied in the right place, for the right amount of time. The result is the kind of relief you can actually feel, not just during the session, but for days afterwards.

Available in 60 or 90 minute sessions to suit the depth of work your body needs.

What Happens in the Deeper Layers?

Beneath the surface muscles lies a complex web of fascia, the connective tissue that wraps around every muscle, bone, and organ in the body. When this tissue becomes restricted through repetitive movement, injury, poor posture, or prolonged stress, it creates adhesions. Areas where the tissue has essentially stuck together, limiting movement and generating persistent pain.

Standard massage works beautifully on the surface. But adhesions, chronic knots, and deep trigger points require something more deliberate.

Deep Tissue Release uses slow, sustained pressure and targeted technique to work through these layers methodically. As the tissue releases, circulation improves, nerve compression eases, and the muscle regains the length and mobility it was always meant to have. This is not a process that can be rushed. At THEVA, we never do.

Firm Pressure. Real Results.

Deep tissue work has a reputation for being uncomfortable. In the wrong hands, it can be. At THEVA, we work with your body, not against it. Pressure is applied gradually, with constant attention to how your tissue responds. There is always open communication throughout the session, and the depth of work is always calibrated to what your body needs on that particular day.

Most clients notice a significant shift within the first session. Areas that felt locked begin to release, movement that felt restricted starts to return, and that persistent background ache begins to quiet down.

For chronic or long-standing tension, a course of sessions will deliver the most lasting results. We will always give you an honest assessment of what we find and what we recommend, because your time and your health matter.

Your Questions About Deep Tissue Release, Answered

What is Deep Tissue Release?

Deep Tissue Release is a therapeutic massage treatment that works into the deeper layers of muscle tissue and fascia. Using slow, deliberate pressure, the session targets chronic adhesions, persistent knots, and trigger points that sit beyond the reach of standard massage. It is specifically designed for those who carry long-standing tension and need firm, focused work to achieve lasting relief.

Is deep tissue massage painful?

Deep tissue work should never be simply painful it should feel like productive pressure. At Theva, we work gradually and communicate throughout the session to ensure the depth is always appropriate for your body on that day. Most clients describe the sensation as firm but relieving — and the difference they feel afterwards makes it entirely worthwhile.

How is this different from a regular relaxation massage?

A relaxation massage works primarily on the superficial muscle layer to promote calm and general wellbeing. Deep Tissue Release goes significantly further targeting the deeper muscle layers and fascia where chronic tension, adhesions, and trigger points accumulate. It is a clinical, results-focused treatment designed to address specific areas of dysfunction rather than provide general relaxation.

Can I claim this on my health fund?

Yes, Deep Tissue Release is Health Fund Claimable. Please bring your health fund card on the day and we can process your claim directly. Rebate amounts vary depending on your individual fund and level of cover.

Should I choose the 60 or 90 minute session?

If you have a specific area of concern such as the upper back, neck, or lower back a 60 minute session is generally sufficient. If you carry tension across multiple areas or want a more thorough full-body deep tissue treatment, the 90 minute session allows us the time to work through everything properly without rushing.
